Browse the web from Nepal.

Khoj is an open source browser by Swadesh Nai Swarga. Built on Chromium, designed around Nepali: Devanagari done properly, light on data, and yours to inspect.

What we are building

A browser that treats Nepali as a first language, not a font fallback. These are the plans for the first release.

Devanagari done properly

Conjuncts, matras and half forms shape correctly in the address bar, tabs and forms. Romanised typing turns into Nepali as you write.

Spaces

Keep work, study and home in their own sets of tabs, and move between them in one swipe.

Tabs in a sidebar

Long titles stay readable down the side instead of shrinking to icons across the top.

Light on data

A saver mode for mobile data packs: images on request, video paused until you ask.

One browser, five platforms

A shared core written in Rust carries your spaces, tabs and settings. Each platform wraps it in its own app. None of these are released yet.

What Khoj stands for

Three commitments we will hold the first release to.
